Dear Members of the Connecticut College Community,
Today is Veterans Day, a time we set aside in the United States and in nations around the world to pause and remember those who have served their country through many branches of the military.
We have a number of living veterans among our staff, faculty, and alumni, and you also likely know people in your immediate or extended family who have served their country. Our close proximity to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the Naval Submarine Base gives us greater appreciation for what this kind of service means.
While each of us will mark the day in our own way, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Programs is creating an opportunity for the campus to join together in reflection tomorrow. On Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 4:30 p.m., you may attend PAUSE: A Gathering for Prayer and Poetry, Silence and Solidarity in the Class of 1969 Memorial Garden near Shain Library. The event will include a candle lighting ceremony to commemorate our veterans.
I encourage you to participate and to join me in thanking the veterans among us for their service.
