Information about Coronavirus
To Members of the Connecticut College Community,
As you may be aware from recent news reports, there is a viral illness that has affected the Hubei Province (mainly in Wuhan) China. This virus is a new strain of the Coronavirus, which causes a respiratory illness. In many cases, this illness lasts less than a week. To date, there have been a few reported cases in the United States, in individuals who developed symptoms after traveling from China, but health officials are paying close attention.
At this time, there is no threat to the Conn community. The College is monitoring the situation and will keep the community apprised of any developments. We have created a website with general information about the Coronavirus, including symptoms and recommended preventative measures, which we will update as information becomes available.
If you have a cough and fever, and have recently been to China or have been exposed to a person with known Coronavirus, please seek medical attention immediately at either L+M Hospital in New London or Pequot Health Center in Groton. Both medical centers have protocols in place to screen for and manage this virus.
If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Student Health Services.
