Important: Please Report Your COVID-19 Vaccination

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Please help us plan for the summer and fall by reporting your COVID-19 vaccination status.

Why? Because a high vaccination rate will likely enable a change to several safety measures and allow us to return to a greater sense of normal. The College will continue to refer to state and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for our protocols, and we anticipate further guidance for vaccinated individuals. For example, based on recent CT Department of Public Health calls, we anticipate that the CDC may soon provide guidance stating that people who are fully vaccinated do not need to continue with asymptomatic surveillance testing (our once or twice a week testing protocol). This would reduce the number of tests we order from the Broad, reduce the staffing demands at the College’s testing center, and enable the College to reduce the expenses incurred for COVID-19 testing.

Since March 25, roughly 40% of our faculty and staff have confidentially shared that they are fully vaccinated. If you are among this group, we thank you for getting vaccinated and sharing your vaccination record with the College. If you are fully vaccinated and haven’t yet reported your vaccination status, please take a moment to do so now by following the instructions at the end of this email. The vaccination information you report will be maintained confidentially. Additional information about the COVID-19 vaccine can be found on the Spring 2021 FAQs on the Path Forward website under Health Guidance.

If you haven’t received your COVID-19  vaccine yet, we strongly encourage you to do so. Getting vaccinated will help keep you, your family, and our community healthy, and vaccine appointments are now readily available. You can find a vaccine appointment near you by visiting Connecticut’s COVID-19 Vaccine Location website. We are now at a point where the vaccine is readily available in CT and at several local locations they are accepting walk-in visits without appointments.

Sincerely,

Victor Arcelus Dean of Students

Cheryl Miller Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Development
