Update Regarding Connecticut's Vaccine Rollout
Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues.
On Feb. 22, 2021, Governor Lamont shared that COVID-19 vaccine eligibility in the state of Connecticut will continue based on age, citing that this is the most equitable and efficient approach. The Governor also noted that age is one of the strongest factors contributing to COVID-19 deaths.
Both residents of Connecticut and those working in the state will be able to receive the vaccine in Connecticut. Below is the anticipated schedule for age-based eligibility:
- March 1, 2021: Expands to age group 55 to 64
- March 22, 2021: Expands to age group 45 to 54
- April 12, 2021: Expands to age group 35 to 44
- May 3, 2021: Expands to age group 16 to 34
The Governor also announced that in an effort to get children back in the classroom this school year, preK-12 school staff and teachers, and professional childcare providers will also be eligible to receive the vaccine in March. This includes teachers and staff working at the Connecticut College Child Development Lab School. More information will be provided to these employees.
Since eligibility for all other College employees will be based on their age (not their employment at Conn), the College cannot complete vaccine registration on their behalf. But we will send these individuals a personalized email when they become eligible for the vaccine and share helpful vaccine scheduling tips and resources.
Getting a vaccine is an important step that we can each take to protect ourselves, our family, our campus and the broader New London community. I encourage you to schedule a vaccine appointment when you become eligible. I also encourage you to review the Faculty/Staff Vaccine Information on the Path Forward website, located on the Spring 2021 FAQ page under the Health Guidance tab.)
