Specialized Resources
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Class of 2020,
I wanted to send you the video message that I made with Emma Benington ’20, president of the senior class, about our Commencement plans for the Connecticut College Class of 2020. The long-range uncertainties caused by the coronavirus have unfortunately made it necessary for us to postpone the public ceremony of College’s 102nd Commencement, scheduled for May 17. Our new plan is to hold that ceremony next year, on May 30, 2021, during Memorial Day weekend.
This news is as hard for me to write as I know it is for you to read. Honestly, it pains me not to be able to welcome you back to campus next month to celebrate your student’s accomplishments. As I said to the class, without them, the end of this year will not be the same. But the public health risks leave us little choice.
Still, we do want to mark May 17 in a special way for you and for the graduates. And so we are working on a meaningful remote event for that day. You will hear more about it in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, I want to thank you for your forbearance during this unprecedented time and for helping your Camel grow into such an admirable person. The values that shine through this beautiful class came from you and I am grateful for that.
Wishing you and your family health and strength.
Yours,
Katherine Bergeron
President
