COVID-19 Update: New State Alert System for Cities and Towns

Dear Members of the Connecticut College Community,

As a follow-up to yesterday’s announcement about going green today, I want to reinforce the messages I recently sent about COVID-19 levels in our area and share some new information from the CT Department of Health. Our Alert Level 1-Green is modified to reflect that the City of New London is currently on a COVID-19 alert and our neighboring towns are also seeing increasing levels of COVID-19. Last week, the State of Connecticut announced a new weekly alert level system in which they label towns and cities with increasing numbers of cases as yellow, orange, or red. In our immediate area, New London, Montville, Norwich, and East Lyme are red, and Waterford, Groton, and Ledyard are orange. You can access the CT COVID-19 Data Tracker at the bottom of our COVID-19 Dashboard webpage.

Our green status is Modified Alert Level 1-Green--students need to continue limiting their engagement off-campus in New London County, and faculty and staff also need to continue to be particularly attentive to taking safety measures off-campus in the region.

Thank you for your attention to this information and I hope that you have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Victor Arcelus
Dean of Students
