COVID -19 Extended Leave - Benefits Eligible Staff
To Benefits Eligible Staff,
In response to the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, the College provided a new paid leave benefit, COVID-19 Leave, on March 23, 2020, to all benefits eligible staff. Ten days of paid leave became available to support you if you are unable to fulfill your job responsibilities because you:
- become ill with COVID-19;
- have to care for a member of your immediate family who becomes ill with COVID-19;
- are required to self-quarantine, either after coming into contact with a person who is ill with COVID-19 or after traveling to regions with sufficient exposure as to warrant a CDC warning of Level 3 or higher ;
- have no one to care for a young child (a child who is under age 13) or an older dependent (a spouse, child or parent who is not physically or mentally able to care for themselves) as a result of COVID-19 school, childcare, or elder care closure/interruption.
Unused COVID-19 leave balances will now be available to you through December 31, 2020, and staff who were actively working (not on summer break or on-reserve) as of July 11, 2020 have received an additional five days of COVID-19 leave.
