Community Days and Module Course Exam Period

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

This semester we are operating with a different academic calendar because of COVID-19. We started the term later than usual, and we do not have a designated spring break. However, there are three different points in the semester when classes will not meet:

  • March 10 - Community Day

  • March 23-25 - Module course exam period

  • April 27 - Community Day (Honors and Awards will take place in the evening)

Given that this is a new arrangement for us, we thought it would be helpful to clarify how these days will work.

Community Days
Community Days are days without classes but all other activities will continue as scheduled. Campus operations will continue as normal with offices open and available to students.

Students, these are days you can use to catch up on work or take time to catch your breath. There will still be organized activities, meetings and practices but you are not required to attend them if you want to take the day off from campus commitments.

Module Course Exam Period
The three days for the module course exam period are also days without classes, but all other activities will continue as scheduled. Campus operations will continue as normal with offices open and available to students.

Students, these are days when you can focus on completing your exams for module courses. If you do not have module courses, these days provide a good opportunity to catch up on work or take some time to rest at the midway point of the semester. During these three days there will still be organized activities, meetings and practices but you are not required to attend them if you need to study for exams or want to take time off from campus commitments.

For students, it is very important to note that, during these three periods of time, all the COVID-related expectations continue to be in place, including expectations to remain on campus and not travel out of New London County.

We hope that this information is helpful as we continue to live in a year with new ways of operating our campus. Thank you for your ongoing support, cooperation and patience!

Sincerely,
