Message from the Dean of Students: Housing Selection
I hope you are safe and healthy and that the arrival of spring is lightening your spirits.
I am writing to provide you with an update on the housing selection process for next year. As I’ve talked to students over the past couple of weeks, it is clear that you are juggling many different responsibilities during this transition, including your studies and personal life. Given these challenges and the uncertainties related to COVID-19, we have decided to delay our housing lottery until later this spring. Shifting the date will enable you to complete your courses and allow us more time to plan for and improve the process for fall 2020.
Yesterday, you received an email from President Bergeron about new working groups that will address the health of our campus and issues related to the continuity of academic, campus life and business operations. These groups are considering a variety of factors related to a healthy opening for the fall semester. The Campus Life Continuity working group in particular will be discussing housing related factors connected to COVID-19.
At this point, you don’t need to do anything. Your lottery number is still valid. And if you have already submitted a housing application, we will review it as soon as the process begins. Residential Education and Living staff will notify you via email when the process will resume and will provide an updated schedule. If you have any questions, please contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope that delaying the lottery will ease your burden a bit during these complicated days. Your patience and understanding in these last weeks have been inspiring for me to witness. Thank you for being so committed to everything that you do.
