Important Mask Wearing Follow-Up

Dear Students,

As we go into this weekend, I want to remind you that you need to wear a mask when you are socializing in each other's rooms and apartments. You do not need to wear a mask with the people you live with in your room or apartment but if anyone else enters the room/apartment then masks go on. This is an important part of preventing the spread of COVID-19 on campus. The place that the virus is most likely to spread is in indoor spaces where you are socializing.

We all want to avoid having an outbreak on campus. If this happens it will require us to begin to undo some of the normal types of engagement opportunities that we are all enjoying. One of our NESCAC peers, Bowdoin College, this week had an increase in cases that led them to institute more restrictive protocols including not allowing gatherings in residence halls and students are only permitted to have one peer, beyond their roommates/apartmentmates, in their room at a time.

We all want to avoid this type of situation so please do your part and wear your mask!

Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Victor Arcelus
Dean of Students
