Important Information for Spring 2021 Return to Campus
Since I wrote to you last week, we have been working with the CT Department of Public Health, Hartford HealthCare and peer leaders across the state and the NESCAC to finalize our plans for bringing you back to campus.
In the fall, we all learned a great deal about COVID-19 and about how to operate a College during a pandemic. As we begin a new semester, we are building on all that we have learned. When you arrive, those of you who were here in the fall will notice important enhancements to dining, to teaching and to all the ways we are thinking about how to live together safely. This will require a team effort—from February through May—so we can ensure your safety, remain open and enjoy being together for the whole term.
It begins with pre-arrival. Given the high levels of COVID-19 around the world, across the country and within our region, the onboarding process is going to be critical for our success. You will begin that process next week. I invite you to watch this short video where four of your peers—Ricardo Lombera, Acacia Tramil, Logan Bowdish, and Louise Ahearne—join me in highlighting the steps you will need to take.
Complementing this video is the Student To Do List for Returning to Conn, part of our updated Path Forward website. It is very important that you take the time this weekend to review the video and the To Do List so that you are familiar with our expectations and can begin doing your part in helping us launch a safe and healthy spring semester.
I will write again next Friday to share with you another new section of our Path Forward website, called “Student Guidance,” outlining campus operations and our expectations for minimizing the spread of the virus as we look forward to living together on this beautiful hill in New London.
Thank you for taking the time to review and understand this guidance. I will be back in touch with you soon and, as always, I will keep you informed throughout the spring.
