Student COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement
We are less than a week away from the end of this academic year and are already planning for next year. President Bergeron sent a message last month laying the groundwork for our fall plans: to be teaching, working, and learning in person as a fully residential campus. This letter provides some additional details on what that means for you.
To make the campus experience as safe as possible in 2021-2022, we will be requiring you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Thankfully, based on your survey responses, we are well on our way to meeting that goal. The vast majority of you have told us that you not only want to be vaccinated but have been getting vaccinated over the past weeks.
With a fully vaccinated student body, teaching spaces can return to normal occupancy and operations; residence hall rooms and apartments can return to full capacity; you will be able to gather in common rooms, enjoy meals together in the dining halls, compete in varsity and club sports, engage fully in clubs and organizations, and use all the resources that we have historically provided our students on and off campus. We will continue to closely monitor CDC recommendations and as we get closer to the start of the next academic year we will keep you updated on campus protocols such as mask wearing and other related expectations.
In short, the vaccine will help lower the risk of transmission in all the places where you live and work and socialize. And that, in turn, will help keep our whole community safe.
By when do I need to be vaccinated?
To be enrolled in the fall, you must first submit your COVID-19 vaccine record to the College by July 1, 2021. Those of you who tell us by June 14 will automatically be entered into a raffle with prizes, including a PS5 Gaming System.
How do I inform the College of meeting the requirement?
After receiving the full dosage, you will need to submit your COVID-19 vaccination record to the College. You can do this by going to the Online Student Health Services Portal.

Note: Please do NOT upload your vaccination record into CoVerified. We are using that platform for faculty and staff only.
What vaccines are acceptable?
If you are in the United States, we will accept all the vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). As of today, the three approved vaccines are Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.
If you are outside of the United States, Conn will accept vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) with an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). As of today, the five approved vaccines are Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Sinopharm.
If you are in the United States and are unable to access an FDA approved vaccine please be in touch with Dean Cardwell (email@example.com), senior associate dean for Student Life. If you are outside of the United States and unable to access a WHO approved vaccine, please be in touch with Dean Patton (firstname.lastname@example.org), international student advisor. Dean Cardwell and Dean Patton will explain the specific arrival instructions and the College will help you meet the requirement when you arrive on campus.
How do I request an exemption?
If you need to request an exemption for religious or medical reasons, please contact Student Health Services by emailing SHS@conncoll.edu. A SHS medical professional will be in touch with you to discuss the process for requesting an exemption and possible requirements for exempted students.
Please keep in mind that you are not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after your second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
