The College celebrated its 106th Convocation on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Connecticut College marked its 106th academic year with a special Fall Convocation on October 1. Professor of Human Development Michelle Dunlap delivered the keynote address, and the event included remarks by President Katherine Bergeron, a community recitation of the College’s Matriculation Pledge, and a special 100th anniversary performance of Conn’s Alma Mater, featuring students, faculty, staff and alumni. Convocation also kicked off Conn's Fall Weekend 2020.

Conn's 106th Convocation took place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1. Watch the taped version to relive the celebration.

The keynote speaker for our 106th Convocation was Michelle Dunlap, professor of Human Development at Connecticut College. Dunlap specializes in racial identity development, issues in the contemporary family, community service and intergroup relations, and has published numerous essays, chapters, journal articles and books related to her research, including her most recent book, Shopping While Black, on discrimination in the consumer marketplace. In 2018, The National Council of Negro Women honored Dunlap with the Eunice McLean Waller Award for her outstanding contributions to the community. Her other many awards include the Woman of the Year Award from the Connecticut African American Affairs Commission, and the Ernest J. Lynton Award for the Scholarship of Engagement from the New England Resource Center for Higher Education.
