2020 Virtual Fall Open House Schedule

All programs will be conducted via Zoom, and all times listed below are U.S. Eastern.

 

 

Monday, Nov. 2

5:30-6 p.m. Fall Open House Welcome

Join staff from the Office of Admission for a brief introduction and discussion of the week’s events.

6-7 p.m. The First-Year Experience 

Geoff Norbert, assistant dean of student engagement and new programs, will discuss how Conn welcomes new students and provides various forms of support during their first year. Current students will also speak about their experiences and ways to get involved on campus. 


Tuesday, Nov 3

9-10 a.m. The International Student Experience

Assistant Dean of the College and International Student Adviser Carmela Patton—with current students and staff and faculty from the Walter Commons for Global Study—will provide a glimpse into what it’s like to be an international student at Conn!

3-4 p.m. Chats with Professors

(Anthropology, Art, Dance, History, Math, Music, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Psychology, Entrepreneurship Pathway, Data, Information, and Society Pathway, Eye of the Mind Pathway) The departments and programs listed are subject to change.

Meet faculty members and ask them about their teaching styles, their departments, their research with students and more. These are drop-in sessions, so you can visit with multiple professors if you’re interested in various disciplines and departments. Note: This session is for prospective students only.

6-7 p.m. Career Preparation and Professional Development 

Persephone Hall, director of the Hale Center for Career Development, will give an overview of our career preparation program and lead a discussion with current students about the ways Conn prepares students for a fulfilling life after graduation.


Wednesday, Nov. 4

3-4 p.m. Chats with Professors (Anthropology, Art, Biology, Botany, Dance, History, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, Geoscience, Music, Global Islamic Studies, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Theater, Public Health Pathway, Media, Rhetoric, and Communication Pathway, Entrepreneurship Pathway) The departments and programs listed are subject to change.

6-7 p.m. Admission During a Pandemic

Leaders from our Admission and Financial Aid offices will offer insights into searching for the right college and applying for admission and financial aid during these extraordinary times.


Thursday, Nov. 5

2, 3 and 4 p.m. Coffee with a Camel (hour-long sessions)

Our students want to share what it’s like to be a Camel, so bring your favorite beverage and your questions about life at Conn to these small group chats. Note: This session is for prospective students only. Please only sign up for one session.

6-7 p.m. Connections Curriculum: Putting the Liberal Arts into Action

Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Andy Strickler explains how Connections, our unique approach to the liberal arts, personalizes your education to make it more meaningful to you.


Friday, Nov 6

9-10 a.m. International Student Information Session

Join Associate Director and Coordinator of International Admission Victoria Macridis for an overview of Connecticut College, programs specific to international students, and details about applying for admission and financial aid.
