Carol Strang, formerly the reserves supervisor in Shain Library, passed away Aug. 30, 2018, after a two-year battle with illness. She worked in Shain for nearly 40 years,
She was born on Aug. 13, 1952 in Queens, New York, to the late Lewis and Virginia Patterson, II. She spent her early life in Charlottesville, Virginia, and graduated from Radford College. She moved to Connecticut in 1976 and began a 40-year career at Connecticut College until her retirement in May 2019.
She was a devoted mother to her two children, Dan Strang of Waterford and Carly Strang of Boston. She supported their education, activities and never missed a game. She loved being by the sea and was a longtime member of Shenecossett Beach Club. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, contagious laugh and kind and curious nature.
In addition to her two children, she is survived by her sister Ann Maheu; her husband Joe; her brother Lewis Patterson, III and his wife Donna of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family.
