Susan Minot Woody, former professor of philosophy at Connecticut College, died from complications due to an illness in September 2018.

Born in 1935 in Monte Carlo, she and her family lived in Florida, California and New York City before settling in Arizona. She received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from New York University and earned a Ph.D. from Yale University. After 20 years of instruction in the philosophy of law at Conn, she opted for a new career, earning a master of divinity degree in pastoral counseling at Yale Divinity School. She spent many years thereafter in active practice in New Haven and Old Lyme.

As a long-time resident of Old Lyme, she was a supporter and volunteer for many charities and local institutions. She was an active parishioner at the Church of St. Agnes in Niantic, where she served the parish as lector and co-chair of the bereavement ministry.

She is survived by her cousins and her four godchildren.
