Connecticut College provides access to cable TV service in student residences via an arrangement with Campus Televideo (CTV). This service allows students to view programming of news, cultural and entertainment value. There is no cost to students and there is a cable TV jack located in each residence hall room.

In order to get cable TV working in your room, you’ll need two things:

  1.  A TV with a Clear QAM tuner - If your TV doesn’t have this built in (most do) you can buy one from an electronics store such as Best Buy or Amazon.com. CTV recommends: iView 3500STBII Multi-Function Digital Converter Box with Recording and Media Playback Here’s the link if you order it from Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/3500STBII-Multi-Function-Converter-RecordingPlayback/dp/B00GOILYB6

  2. A coaxial cable -  If you do not have a coaxial cable you can purchase one from the Connecticut College Bookshop or from an electronics store such as Best Buy or Amazon.com. Once you have the above items, connecting to the cable system in your room is simple. Look for the voice and data jacks in your room. Directly beneath the connectors, you’ll find a barrel connector into which you can plug your coaxial cable. Plug the other end into your TV and turn it on. You will need to program your TV to search for the channels. Be patient, it may take a little time.
