Lowitt Records 19 Saves for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Senior midfielder Meg Murphy (Springfield, Mass.) scored in the 57th of minute of action to lead visiting Amherst College (4-1, 3-0) to a 2-0 NESCAC victory at Connecticut College Saturday (3-3, 0-3).
Hannah Cooper (Bethesda, Md.) chipped in with a second half score for the Lord Jeffs, who are the 16th ranked team in the latest NSCAA National Poll.
Murphy buried a header with 33:56 remaining in regulation for the Lord Jeffs. Jackie Hirsch (Wilmette, Ill.) assisted on the tally, sending a cross across the box for her team-leading seventh point of the season.
Cooper added an insurance goal with 20 minutes remaining for the visitors. Sophomore Allie Horwitz (Woodbridge, Conn.) had four saves in her second shutout this season.
Connecticut College freshman Amy Lowitt (Baltimore, Md.) finished with 19 saves in the game.
Sophomore Kate Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) posted a team-high four shots in the setback for the hosts.
