Camels Finish 8th out of 35 Teams at Disney Classic McKenna-Taylor Lead Camels in Orlando ORLANDO, Fla.--The Connecticut College women´s cross country visited the Sunshine State this weekend to compete at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando. The Camels had a successful trip, finishing eighth out of 35 teams with a score of 265 points in a deep field that included teams from major conferences in Division I, II and III. Kennesaw State won the invitational with a score of 79 points. Junior MacKenzie Howe (Watkinsville, Ga.) topped the field of 279 competitors with a winning time of 18:07 to lead the Owls in the victory. The University of Central Florida placed second with 83 points. The Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons finished third with a score of 107 points. Florida Atlantic (116), Milligan (143), the University of Miami (193), and Florida Southern (241) rounded out the top seven scoring teams in the field on a scorching hot morning in Central Florida. The Camels continue to be led by the junior tandem of Faye McKenna (Amston, Conn.) and Kelsey Taylor (East Hampton, Conn.). McKenna posted a time of 20:04 to finish in 32nd place on the 5k course. Taylor placed 53rd for the Camels with a time of 20:35. Sophomore Lindsay Paiva (Coventry, R.I.) completed the course with a time of 20:52 to place 65th in the field. Colleen MacPhee (Maplewood, N.J.) was 66th overall with a time of 20:53. Sophomore Kerry Dermody (Erieville, N.Y.) was the fifth Camel scorer in 68th place with a time of 20:55. Sophomore Julianne Fowler (Guilford, Conn.) posted a time of 21:15 as the sixth Camel scorer and 83rd runner with a time of 21:15. Chiara Pandolfi (Rome, Italy) checked in with a time of 21:29 to finish 97th for Connecticut College. The Camels had 12 runners competing on the trip. Ally Bonito (Guilford, Conn.) logged a time of 21:38 as the 105th finisher. Freshman Merry Byrne (Brookside, N.J.) was the 126th runner with a time of 22 minutes flat. Michelle Wesley (Millwood, N.Y.) checked in with a time of 22:19 in 136th place. Leah Demarest (Amherst, N.H.) and Lianne Swanson (Franklin, Mass.) were the 163rd and 185th runners Saturday with respective times of 23:01 and 23:36 for the Camels.
