Camels Earn Split with Hamilton & Williams
Shragge Contributes Five Kills in Hamilton Win
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College earned a split in a pair of NESCAC matches played at Luce Fieldhouse Saturday. The Camels (14-4, 5-2) collected a 3-0 shutout victory against Hamilton College (3-20, 0-5) in the afternoon match. Williams College (12-5, 4-1) posted a 3-0 win against the Camels in the first half of the doubleheader.
The Camels defeated Hamilton with game scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-16. Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) had 16 assists and three aces for the hosts. Junior Molly Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) chipped in with four blocks. Chelsea Manning (Cockeysville, Md.) registered six kills. Katie Shragge (San Diego, Calif.) posted five kills in the blanking.
Allison Martella (Washington, D.C.) had three kills in the setback for the Continentals. Sophomore Rachel Irizarry (Woodinville, Wash.) contributed six digs and first year setter Cecelie Pikus (Short Hills, N.J.) dished out six assists for Hamilton.
In the morning match ups, Williams collected 25-20, 25-18, and 25-15 wins, securing their victory against the Camels.
Junior Nicole Ballon-Landa (La Jolla, Calif.) buried nine kills to lead the Ephs. Kate Anderson (Berlin, Maas.) contributed eight kills for the winning side. Aly McKinnon (Potola Valley, Calif.) served up six aces. Andrea Scioscia (Gibsonia, Pa.) registered 14 digs and Emily Avis (Palo Alto, Calif.) contributed with 27 assists.
The Camels were led by junior setter Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.), who dished out 31 assists in the match. Lauren Wise (Oakton, Va.) tallied 14 digs for the hosts. Freshman Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) buried 11 kills for the Camels.
