Camels Improve to 15-4 with Shutout Win in New London
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team improved to 15-4 with a 3-0 shutout victory against Eastern Connecticut State University (10-13) at Luce Fieldhouse Tuesday night. Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) had eight kills and nine digs to lead the hosts to their seventh win in the last eight outings.
Schroff, the reigning NESCAC Player of the Week, buried the game-winning kill to clinch a 25-23 victory in game one. The Camels went on to take the next two games 25-18 and 25-21 en route to the blanking.
Sophomore Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Lauren Wise (Oakton, Va.) chipped in with eight kills each for the winning side in the victory. Junior setter Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.) dished out 31 assists for the Camels.
Sophomore outside hitter Kristianna Ibsen (Shelton, Conn.) had eight kills and two blocks for the visiting Warriors. Samantha Slonski (Griswold, Conn.) chipped in with nine kills and 15 digs. Erin Moriarty (Higganum, Conn.) contributed six blocks in the middle for the visitors. Sophomore setter Britt Carrier (Southington, Conn.) dished out 17assists added six digs with three blocks.
Danielle Bourne (Branford, Conn.) registered 10 digs and Ashley Tuggle (South Windsor, Conn.) finished with seven digs and two aces.
