Mitchell Scores 11 Goals in Four Home Matches for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men´s water polo team hosted Northern Division water polo action at Lott Natatorium this weekend.
The Camels (1-12) dropped all four of their matches but did receive some strong individual contributions in the setbacks. Friday night, Iona College defeated the Camels 20-8. Connecticut College dropped a 13-9 decision to Mercyhurst College and a 23-7 decision to Queens Saturday. The MIT Engineers collected an 18-7 victory Sunday afternoon.
Junior Sam Mitchell (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) erupted with 11 goals this weekend and leads the club with 25 markers this season. Senior sharpshooter Connor Matzinger (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) chipped in with nine goals and has tallied 45 goals in his last two seasons for the Camels.
Freshman Sam Burns (Albuquerque, N.M.) netted nine scores for the hosts. Rookie net-minder Clayton Witter (New York, N.Y.) racked up 55 saves in the four matches and is contributing 11 saves per start for Connecticut College this fall.
