#12 Camel Women Place Ninth in 17 Team Field at Stu Nelson Regatta
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women´s sailing team hosted the Stu Nelson Trophy Regatta on the Thames River this weekend. The Camels, who are ranked #12 in the latest ICSA poll, sailed to a ninth place finish in the 17 team field of competitors.
Dartmouth College won the regatta with 167 points. Harvard University took second place with a score of 178 points.
Junior All-American Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) and Kelly Arabia (Braintree, Mass.) tallied 114 points in a ninth place showing for the Camels in the A division. Sophomore Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.) and Katrina Salk (Jamestown, R.I.) scored 123 points to finish ninth in the B division for Connecticut College.
The Connecticut College coed sailing team competed in the Sherman Hoyt Trophy Regatta at Brown University. The Camels finished 16th in the 18 team field with a score of 344 points.
Yale University won the regatta with a score of 155 points. Boston College placed second with 167 points and the College of Charleston scored 168 points in a third place finish.
In the A division, sophomore skipper Peter Miller (Paget, Bermuda), Steve Sweriduk (Providence, R.I.) and Christy Clothier (Newtown Square, Pa.) tallied 153 points to place 12th for the Camels. The Camels finished 17th in the B division with a score of 191 points. Ben Bainbridge (West Hartford, Conn.), Mike Marshall (Jamestown, R.I.), Matt Sterett (Corpus Christi, Tex.), Kevin Lau-Hansen (Larchmont, N.Y.), Marina Gluckman (New York, N.Y.), Katie St. George (Marblehead, Mass.) all competed for the Camels in the B division.
