Christopher Stops 38 Shots for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Holy Cross women´s hockey team improved to 7-0 with a 3-0 shutout victory at Connecticut College (1-4) Tuesday night. First year forward Meghan Reynolds (Marion, Mass.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Crusaders past the Camels in New London.
Senior forward Wendy Nobrega (Barrington, R.I.) and Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) chipped in with goals for the winning side. Junior net-minder Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) made 18 saves in her second shutout of the season for the visitors.
Connecticut College senior Sara Christopher (Andover, Mass.) had 38 saves to keep the hosts within striking distance for most of the night.
The Camels had an opportunity to get on the scoreboard with two minutes remaining in regulation on the power play. Sam Schoeneberger (Vernon, Conn.) and Rachel Nelson (Denver, Colo.) were able to break free on an odd women rush. But Gallant was able to make the save on Nelson´s blast and the Crusaders closed out the 3-0 win.
The Camels will host a pair of NESCAC games in New London this weekend. Friday night, Connecticut College will take on Bowdoin College for a 7:00 p.m. game. The Colby College Mules arrive Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. NESCAC tilt at Dayton Arena.
