Connecticut College Receives Team Academic Award from NSCAA
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men´s soccer team has been honored for its academic excellence by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Camels received the NSCAA team academic award for compiling a team grade point average of 3.25.
The Camels were one of 143 teams across Division I, II, and III to maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. First year Kenny Murphy will continue to emphasize academic achievement as a critical component to the program´s success.
"Our student-athletes are committed to reaching their fullest potential on the field and in the classroom," said Murphy. "We will continue to support their academic endeavors as the most critical piece of their experience here at a highly competitive liberal arts college."
In addition to the team honor, members of the team were recognized for their individual academic achievement this fall. Senior Mickey Lenzi (Hauppauge, N.Y.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine/COSIDA Academic All-District 1 First Team. Thomas Giblin (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Lenzi were honored on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Team.
