CRANSTON, R.I.--The Connecticut College Women´s Sailing Team rallied on the second day of action to place fourth out of 13 teams with a score of 108 points in the New England Championship/Reed Trophy regatta hosted by Brown University at the Edgewood Yacht Club. The ninth ranked Camels will head out to the Midwest to compete in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Semi-Finals that will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin from May 24-28 in Madison, Wis. The Brown Bears scored 80 points to win the New England crown in their home water. Harvard University (96 pts.) edged out third place Boston College (99 pts.) for second place. By holding down the top two spots, Brown and Harvard advance directly to the National Championship. Boston College, Connecticut College, Tufts University, Yale University and Dartmouth College earn a spot in the Semi-Final Championship for finishing 3-7. Connecticut College Head Coach Jeff Bresnahan was pleased with the team´s performance and is looking forward to what should be an exciting month of May for Camel Sailing. "As a team, we sailed really well today," Bresnahan said. "We started the day in sixth place so to move up to fourth required a great team effort. I was proud of everyone for what they accomplished this weekend." Junior skipper Maggie Shea (Wilmette, Ill.) and senior crew Kelly Arabia (Braintree, Mass.) secured a fourth place finish with a score of 46 points in the A Division. In the B division, sophomore skipper Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.), Katrina Salk (Jamestown, R.I.) and Claire Sacco (Glenmont, N.Y.) scored 62 points in an eighth place showing for the Camels.
