WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College women´s rowing team competed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) National Invitational Collegiate Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Sunday. The Camels won a gold medal in the open four and placed fourth in the grand final of the novice eight.
In the open four, the Camels posted a winning time of 7:59.83, outlasting second place WPI by 6.76 seconds. Trinity College was third with a time of 8:10.64. Holy Cross, Colby, RIT and Smith finished fourth-seventh.
Justine Rooney (Centerville, Mass.) handled the stroke seat and Ari Puleo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) coxed the boat. Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.) and Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.) were seated 3-1.
In the novice eight regatta, the Camels posted a time of 7:26.10 in a fourth place showing. The Tufts Jumbos won the regatta in 7:13.18. Trinity was the runner up with a time of 7:16.36 and Smith College finished third in 7:23.08.
Seana Siekman (Bethel, Maine.) handled the stroke seat with Amanda Jones (Upper Arlington, Ohio) on board as the coxswain. Lila Douglis (Belmont, Mass.), Caity Sprague (Bristol, R.I.), Amy Cheetham (Monroe, Maine), Meghan McLean (Old Lyme, Conn.), Steph Timpone (Malverne, N.Y.), Emma Sherer (Providence, R.I.) and Johanna Collins (Florence, Mass.) were seated 7-1 for the Camels.
The Camels finished second behind Colby in the fourth level final of the varsity eight regatta for an overall ranking of 20th place with a time of 7:45.91.
Sophomore Lesley Gaughan (Weston, Mass.) handled the stroke seat with Maureen Sweeney (New Canaan, Conn.) guiding the Camels as the coxswain. Janan Evans-Wilent (Ithaca, N.Y.), Mary Fergus (San Francisco, Calif.), Emily Perry (Westfield, N.J.), Sarah Brigandi (Winthrop, Mass.), Kaitlin Varga (Atkinson, N.H.), Alex Heilman (Wayland, Mass.) and Abbe Schickner (Norwich, Vt.) were seated 7-1 for Connecticut College.
