Capuano Scores Twice, Camels Remain in Contention for Playoff Berth
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Joe Capuano (Melrose, Mass.) scored twice to lead the Connecticut College Camels (7-14-1) past the University of New England (2-20) in a 6-2 victory at the Biddeford Arena Saturday.
J.J. McGregor (Wichita, Kan.) sandwich a goal around two assists for the visitors. Seniors Brett Moore (Medfield, Mass.) and Trevor Bradley (West Hartford, Conn.) each contributed with a goal and an assist while classmate Ryan Joyce (Dorchester, Mass.) added two assists for the winning side.
Ross James (Orono, Maine) scored his third goal in the past two games for Connecticut College.
Paul Kashmanian (Grand Island, N.Y.) scored both goals for the University of New England. Adam Laite (Sydney, Nova Scotia) had two assists for the Nor´easters.
The Camels erupted with three goals in each of the final two periods of action to pull away from the Nor´easters. Capuano accounted for the game-winner with 14 seconds left in the middle period, putting the Camels on top for good at 3-2.
Senior Greg Parker (Trenton, Ontario) stopped 33 shots for the Camels. Mike Roper (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) made 33 saves for the hosts.
With two games remaining in the regular season, Connecticut College is still in the hunt for the eighth and final berth in the 2010 NESCAC Championship Tournament. The Camels must defeat Norwich and Saint Michael´s College to have any chance of catching up with Colby.
