Camels Will Visit Trinity Saturday for NESCAC Quarterfinal
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Seniors Erin Davey (Nashua, N.H.), Rachel Lindmark (Andover, Mass.) and Cookie Smith (Framingham, Mass.) all scored a pair of goals as Connecticut College (8-14-2, 5-9-2) closed out its regular season with a 7-0 blanking of Wesleyan University (4-18-2, 2-14) in Middletown, Conn.
With the win, the Camels secured the seventh seed. Connecticut College will visit Trinity College next Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. game in a re-match of a 2009 NESCAC Championship Quarterfinal.
Rookie net-minder Amy Leichliter (Westchester, Pa.) stopped 16 shots in her second shutout of the season. Junior forward Kelsey Kirker (Milton, Vt.) distributed four assists in the Camel triumph.
Davey set the tone early, scoring her 32nd and 33rd of her career before Smith closed out the scoring in the frame with a goal at 14:24 that vaulted the Camels out to a 3-0 advantage.
In the second period, Lindmark padded the lead with her fifth and sixth scores, including a shorthanded goal to put the Camels in complete control with a 5-0 advantage. Kourtney Brim (Shawnee, Kan.) and Smith added goals in the third period to close out the scoring.
Ashleigh Corvi (Barrington, R.I.) made 35 saves in the setback for the Cardinals.
