Connecticut College 8, Lawrence University 0 Sunshine State Sweep: 5-1 Camels Complete Four Match Sweep in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. --Four matches in Florida; four wins for the Connecticut College Womens Tennis Team. The Camels (5-1) completed the sweep by beating Lawrence University, 8-0, on Sunday at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando Florida. With freshman Sara Krivoshik out of action, the Camels had only 7 active players in uniform, and they all contributed with wins. At third doubles, freshman Maddy Swanson made her debut appearance, teaming with classmate Jen Herbert, and winning 8-3. Brittney Cangemi made her first singles appearance, winning 6-1, 6-3 at the #6 singles spot. At the top of the lineup, freshman Cassie Smith used her consistent baseline game to dispose her opponent 6-3, 6-1 at the #1 position. In other singles action, #2 Becca Heupel, #3 Jess Bender, #4 Caroline Barone, and #5 Jen Herbert all won in straight sets at their respective positions. With the win, the women head back to New England with momentum. The teams next match is on Sunday March 28th at the South Tennis Courts, where they will take on top NESCAC rival and #1 in the Nation, Amherst College.
