LeDuc (5th Place) and Wright (13th Place) Lead Camels at NESCAC Championship
CLINTON, N.Y.--Freshman Mike LeDuc (Canton, Conn.) posted a time of 26:23 to place fifth at the 2010 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Cross Country Championship hosted by Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.
LeDuc finished just 17 seconds behind Hamilton senior Peter Kosgei, who became the first NESCAC harrier to win the conference championship four years in a row. Connecticut College junior Doug Wright (Darien, Conn.) cruised to a 13th place finish with a time of 26:43 in another clutch performance for the Camels.
Both LeDuc and Wright will be named to the All-Conference squad when it is formally announced this week. The Camels scored 179 points as a team to place seventh at the Championship.
Middlebury College placed three runners in the top nine to win the NESCAC crown with a score of 78 points. Williams College finished as the runner up with 94 points and the Tufts Jumbos were third with a score of 103 points.
Senior Shawn Mulcahy (Lebanon, Conn.) was the third runner to complete the course for the Camels, posting a time of 27:08 en route to a 30th place finish. Tim Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.) was 79th with a time of 28:21. Colin Gallant (Ashford, Conn.) checked in with a time of 28:37 to place 90th.
Junior Brenner Green (Lisbon, Conn.) was the 96th runner to complete the course with a time of 28:52. Andrew Duarte (Rocky Hill, Conn.) rounded out the top seven with a time of 29:02 as the 100th finisher Saturday.
