NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior Alex Samma of Ougadougou, Burkina Faso has been honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men´ s Field Performer of the Week. Samma provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship with his victory in the triple jump at the Coast Guard Saturday. He covered a distance of 47 feet, six and one half of an inch in the victory. With his sixth place finish in the triple jump at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship on the campus of DePauw University in March, Samma made history as Connecticut College's first three-time All-America in any field event competition. In March of 2009, Samma was crowned as the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Triple Jump Champion when he jumped 49 feet, five and one half of an inch for Connecticut College in Terre Haute, Ind. The Camels will host the Silfen Invitational Saturday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. in New London. The 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship will be held in Berea, Ohio from May 27-29 on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College.
