Samma, Van der Eb Garner All-NESCAC Honors for Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior Alex Samma (Ougadougou Burkina, Faso) and sophomore Marina Van der Eb (Brooksville, Maine) have been named to the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Track & Field Team for Connecticut College. Samma took second place in the triple jump by covering a distance of 46 feet, eight and one quarter of an inch for the Camels. A three-time All-American in the triple jump, Samma has provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship with a jump of 47 feet, six and one half of an inch. Van der Eb threw the javelin 115 feet, three inches to place second for the Camels with a personal record, earning a spot on the All-NESCAC squad for the first time. It was the fifth longest throw on the Connecticut College all-time performance list. Van der Eb was a four-sport standout at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill, Maine. She earned letters in basketball, soccer, softball and track & field.
