The 2010 Men's Cross Country team hopes to improve on last fall's ninth place finish at NESCACs and 15th place showing at the New England Regionals.
They will be led by last year's top two runners both of whom return as co-captains this fall. Senior Shawn Mulcahy, who was the Camel's first finisher at Regionals last year and who had a strong Indoor season before travelling abroad, and junior Doug Wright who was the team's first man last year until getting sick at the end of the season, and who was the ninth D. III finisher at the All New England meet, have proven to be among the top runners in New England.
Other veteran runners Coach Jim Butler expects to have an impact include juniors Colin Gallant and Brenner Green, and sophomores Tim Murtagh, Andrew Duarte, Tristan Cole, and Ross Peterson.
The team's depth will be bolstered by the addition of freshmen Mike LeDuc from Canton, Conn. and Drew Majkut from Upton, Mass.
"The guys have been working really hard so far, so we are optimistic," said Butler.
The Camels opened their season on September 4th with an Alumni Race at their home course at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford. They will first take on collegiate competition when they travel to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on September 18th for the Iona Meet of Champions.
