McKeigue, Wegener Provide Offense for Camels
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.--The Connecticut College women´s soccer team earned a 2-0 shutout victory against UMass Dartmouth in a game played on Cressy Field Tuesday night. The Camels even their mark at 2-2 with the win while the Corsairs slip to 3-4 with the setback.
The Camels got all the offense they would need in the 11th minute of action. First year forward Celia Alvarez (Saugus, Mass.) delivered a through ball ahead to Ali McKeigue (Arlington, Mass.). UMD keeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, Mass.) sprinted all the way out to the 18 to try to break up the play but McKeigue was able to chip the ball past her for what proved to be the game-winner.
In the opening minute of the second half, Kate Wegener (Brockton, Mass.) buried a free kick from 25 yards out to make it a 2-0 game. The Camels were able to hold on for their second straight win.
Sophomore keeper Kirsten Manville (Fairfax, Va.) stopped eight shots, logging the first shutout of her career for the Camels. Braga finished with 10 saves for the Corsairs.
The Camels out-shot the hosts 20-to-13 in the contest.
