Camels Finish 12th out of 19 Teams at Purple Valley Classic
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Connecticut College women´s cross country team competed in the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College Saturday. The Camels placed 12th in a competitive field of 19 teams with a score of 387 points.
Middlebury College won the invitational with a score of 57 points. Williams College placed second with 76 points and Johns Hopkins University tallied 86 points en route to a third place showing. Seven of the top eight scoring teams were nationally ranked.
Sophomore Jennifer Gossels of Williams was the individual champion, logging a time of 22:17 on the 6k course.
Connecticut College junior Lindsay Paiva (Coventry, R.I.) finished in 84th place with a time of 24:59. Kerry Dermody (Erieville, N.Y.) posted a time of 25:24 in 103rd place. Grace Glynn (Saco, Maine) placed 114th with a time of 25:41 for the Camels.
Sophomore Merry Byrne (Brookside, N.J.) finished in 122nd place with a time of 25:47. Ally Bonito (Guilford, Conn.) posted a time of 26:01 in 133rd place. Kelsey Taylor (East Hampton, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 143rd place with a time of 26:25.
Katie Beers (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was the seventh Camel, completing the course in 26:31 as the 147th place runner.
