NEW LONDON, Conn.--Graham Christensen (Darien, Conn.), Winslow Murdoch (Cropseyville, N.Y.) and Trevor Prophet (Nashua, N.H.) scored goals to lead Connecticut College past the Mitchell College Mariners in a 3-1 victory at Alumni Field Wednesday.
The Camels even their record at 4-4-1 while the Mariners fall back to the .500 mark at 5-5-1 with the loss.
The Camels were able to overcome a sluggish start that saw the hosts take a 1-0 advantage with a goal by Tommy Derosier (Brooklyn, Conn.) in the 12th minute of action.
The visitors evened the score at 29:35 of the opening half on Christensen´s first goal of the season. Kevin Burt (New Canaan, Conn.) and Prophet assisted on the marker.
Murdoch put the Camels on top in the 57th minute of action, burying a header on a Nick Maghenzani (Allendale, N.J.) cross.
Keith Bennett (Medfield, Mass.) assisted Prophet for his team leading ninth goal of the season with 19:08 remaining and the Camels were able to close out the 3-1 win.
Derek Ponciano (Brooklyn, Conn.) stopped five shots for the Mariners. Casey Marini (Hampden, Mass.) had three saves in the win for the Camels. Max Nichols (Mill Valley, Calif.) closed out the win, logging the final 11:26 of regulation for Connecticut College.
The Camels are gearing up for a huge NESCAC contest against conference power Middlebury College this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. on Tempel Green.
