Wright Places Fourth at Home Invitational for Camels
WATERFORD, Conn.--The Connecticut College men´s cross country team hosted its home invitational at scenic Harkness State Park in Waterford, Conn. Saturday. Junior Doug Wright (Darien, Conn.) and senior Shawn Mulcahy (Lebanon, Conn.) helped lead the Camels to a fifth place finish in the 19 team field on the 8k race course.
Wright posted a time of 25:44 to place fourth in the field in another memorable performance of his stellar career for the Camel athletic program. Mulcahy ran his best race of the 2010 season, placing 13th overall with a time of 26:06. Freshman Mike LeDuc (Canton, Conn.) chipped in with a 14th place showing, completing the course in 26:10. All three runners landed on the All-Invitational team.
The University of Connecticut and Tufts University shared first place with totals of 59 points each. The College of New Jersey scored 123 points to finish in a distant third place.
The Fairfield University Staggs were next with 158 points and were followed by the Camels with 168 points. Division II entry Southern Connecticut State was next with 174 points and the University of Hartford took seventh with 206 points.
Junior Colin Gallant (Ashford, Conn.) posted a time of 27:16 en route to a 69th place finish. Andrew Duarte (Rocky Hill, Conn.) took 86th place with a time of 27:31. Junior Brenner Green (Lisbon, Conn.) posted a time of 27:50 to place 106th in the field.
Tim Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.) was 108th overall with a time of 27:52 for Connecticut College.
