Durand and Defense Stand Tall in Waterville
WATERVILLE, Maine.--Jacqui Durand (Sudbury, Mass.) made a game-saving clear of a ball on what would have been the tying score in the 90th minute of action and the Connecticut College Camels were able to hold on for a 2-1 NESCAC victory at Colby College Saturday.
The visitors improve to 5-4-3 with the victory and are 1-4-3 in the NESCAC. The Mules slip to 4-6-3 and are 0-5-3 in conference games.
Kate Wegener (Brockton, Mass.) scored in the 41st minute of action with a long 35 yard bomb and Kate Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) tallied 8:48 into the second half for what would prove to be the game-winner.
Colby College midfielder Carly Dee (Wellesley, Mass.) registered a first half goal for the hosts.
Kirsten Manville (Fairfax, Va.) made five saves in the victory for the Camels. Colby College senior Loni Pisani (Kanata, Canada) stopped five shots for the Mules.
The Camels have vaulted their way back into the post-season picture with the win. Connecticut College will visit the Coast Guard Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. game.
Friday afternoon, the Camels will play their conference finale at Wesleyan University. The Camels and Cardinals will kick off at 3:00 p.m. in Middletown, Conn.
