Hine & Lewis to Play Final Home Game Against Gordon Tuesday
WATERVILLE, Maine --Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored a pair of first half goals to lead the Colby College field hockey team to a 3-0 victory against Connecticut College in a NESCAC game played on Bill Alfond Field Saturday.
With the win, the Mules improve to 6-7 with a 1-7 record in the NESCAC. The Camels slip to 6-6 with a 2-6 mark in league play.
Senior net-minder Liz Fontaine (Wilbraham, Mass.) made seven saves en route to the blanking for the hosts. Aimee Rich (Darien, Conn.) recorded three saves for the Camels.
The Camels out-shot the Mules 16-to-12 in the game and enjoyed a 13-to-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Abby Hine (Madison, Conn.) tallied eight shots in the loss and Kelly Watkins (San Jose, Calif.) had another strong outing for the visitors.
The Camels will host Gordon College this Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. game in New London.
Seniors Abby Hine and Jess Lewis will be honored as they make their final appearance on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field.
Friday afternoon, the Camels will visit Wesleyan for a 5:00 p.m. game. The NESCAC Championship Tournament pairings will be announced Friday night with first round games being played on the campus of the top four seeded teams Sunday afternoon, Oct. 31.
