Manning Buries Seven Kills for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Chelsea Manning (Cockeysville, Md.) buried seven kills, including the 250th of her career, to lead the Connecticut College volleyball team to a 3-0 victory against Mitchell College in a non-conference match played at the Yarnall Center Wednesday night.
The Camels, ranked #5 in New England, coasted to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-6 victory. With their fourth straight win, Connecticut College will head into the final regular season of conference play with a record of 17-6.
Freshman Georgia Naumann (Medfield, Mass.) registered 10 kills and four service aces in a strong performance on the outside. Calli Stavola (Montauk, N.Y.) contributed with seven blocks and three kills for the Camels.
Sophomore setter Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) dished out 26 assists for the winning side. Connecticut College posted an impressive .413 hitting percentage in the match and served up 19 aces.
The Camels will play their final two regular season matches at Trinity College Saturday. At 11:00 a.m., Connecticut College will play Bates College. Later on at 1:30 p.m., the Camels and Colby will meet in the regular season finale.
Connecticut College has clinched its sixth consecutive berth in the NESCAC Championship Tournament. The Camels will meet their first round opponent Friday, November 5.
