NESCAC Quarterfinal: #4 Tufts University 3, #5 Connecticut College 0
AMHERST, Mass.--The Tufts University Jumbos earned a 3-0 victory against Connecticut College in a NESCAC Championship Quarterfinal match played at LeFrak Gymnasium Friday night.
The fourth seeded Jumbos improved to 21-9 with their fourth consecutive win and will meet top seeded Amherst College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Camels had their six-match winning streak snapped with the setback and are 19-7.
Tufts earned a 25-19 victory in game one and edged the Camels 25-23 in the second game before closing out the win with a 25-18 victory in the third game.
Sophomore setter Kendall Lord (La Jolla, Calif.) dished out 38 assists to lead the Jumbos to the win. Senior Caitlin Updike (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) buried 14 kills for Tufts and Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, Calif.) tallied 14 digs for the winning side.
Connecticut College senior setter Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.) posted a double-double with 24 assists and 11 digs for the Camels. Junior outside hitter Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) accounted for 12 kills in the match. Sarah Shankel (Loveland, Colo.) added five kills and Ally Terlizzi (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) contributed with five digs.
