Camels Place 12th in 49 Team Field at New England D. 3 Championship
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Connecticut College men´s cross country team traveled to Western Massachusetts to compete in the New England Division III Championship at Mount Greylock High School Saturday. The Camels had a successful outing, finishing 12th in the 49 team field with a score of 356 points.
"I was pleased with how the team ran today," Connecticut College Head Men´s Cross Country Coach Jim Butler said. "Overall, this was a three place improvement from last year and a very solid team effort."
MIT placed three of its runners in the top 12 to win the regional crown with 93 points. The Williams College Ephs placed second with a score of 101 points on their home course. Brandeis University tallied 139 points to finish third.
Senior Shawn Mulcahy (Lebanon, Conn.) paced the Camels on the 8k course. Mulcahy posted a time of 26:46 en route to a 42nd place finish. Junior Doug Wright (Darien, Conn.) secured a 56th place finish for the Camels with a time of 27:02. Freshman Mike LeDuc (Canton, Conn.), running most of the race with only one shoe after having a runner step on the other and losing it in the crowded pack of the first 400 meters, posted a time of 27:06 to finish in 59th place.
Sophomore Andrew Duarte (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was 98th with a time of 27:54. Colin Gallant (Ashford, Conn.) posted a time of 28:02 to finish in 103rd place. Brenner Green (Lisbon, Conn.) (28:28, 132nd) and Tim Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.) (28:56, 156th) also competed for the Camels.
