Walsh Wins 50, 100, 200 Back for Men-Fernandes Triumphs in 50 Fly for Women
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College swimming and diving teams hosted Williams College for a dual meet at Lott Natatorium Saturday. The reigning NESCAC Champions earned a 202-135 victory in the men's action and triumphed with a 223-107 win in the women's meet.
The Camels had some strong individual performances in their final meet of the month. Junior Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) scored victories in the 50, 100 and 200 yard backstroke with respective times of 23.92 seconds, 52.19 seconds and 1:55.06.
Freshman Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) triumphed in both the 50 and 100 yard butterfly with times of 23.83 and 52.48 seconds and added a third win in the 50 yard freestyle, edging out his opponent with a victory in 21.97 seconds.
Ryan Dignan (Phoenix, Ariz.) chipped in with winning times of 2:01.83 in the 200 yard butterfly and 4:46.42 in the 500 yard freestyle event.
In the women's action, junior Erika Fernandes (Westport, Mass.) posted a winning time of 26.93 seconds in the 50 yard butterfly.
Sarah Murphy (Williamsburg, Va.) won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 58.93. Sophomore Jessica Schanzer (Monterey, Calif.) contributed a victory in the 100 yard backstroke, logging a time of 1:01.30 for the Camels.
