MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--Junior Allie Lynch dished out eight assists to lead Wesleyan University (4-10, 1-8) past Connecticut College (6-8, 1-8) in a 17-13 home victory. The Camels were fighting Bates College for the eighth and final available berth in the 2010 NESCAC Championship Tournament but were eliminated from post-season consideration with the loss.
The two teams were locked up in a 9-9 halftime tie. However, the Cardinals opened the second half on a 4-0 run to pull away. The visitors trimmed the deficit to 13-10 with a free position goal from Brianna Miller with 18:54 to go but could not get any closer.
Junior Abby Hill had four goals and an assist in the loss. Hope Barone recorded a hat trick with three goals and Miller scored twice. Rookie net-minder Kelsey Burke stopped seven shots in goal.
Jess Chukwu, Eileen Gaffney, Averill Roberto all had hat tricks for the Cardinals, who put up 39 shots in the victory. Sophomore Maggie Drowica made 18 saves in the win.
Hope Barone closed out the season with a team-leading 35 goals and 40 points along with 45 draw controls. Abby Hill finished the season with 29 goals, nine assists, and 38 points. Sara Christopher totaled 34 points on 15 goals and 19 assists. Katelyn Driscoll tallied 30 points and 35 ground balls in her sophomore season. Brianna Miller registered 18 goals, eight assists and 26 points in a productive rookie season.
