NEW LONDON, Conn. --The Wesleyan University women´s tennis team earned a 5-4 victory against host Connecticut College in a NESCAC match played on the South Tennis Courts Saturday. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 10-3 with a 2-3 record in NESCAC play. The Camels slip to 6-7 (1-4 NESCAC) in their fifth straight loss. Freshman Genevieve Aniello (Hadley, Mass.) had a productive day for the visitors. Aniello posted a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at #3 singles. In doubles action, Aniello paired up with Linda McDougal (Kathmandu, Nepal) for an 8-3 triumph at #2. Connecticut College freshman Cassie Smith (Shelburne, Vt.) secured a 7-5, 6-3 win at number one singles. Caroline Barone (North Kingstown, R.I.) notched a decisive 6-1, 6-1 triumph at #4. Sara Krivoshik (Wilton, Conn.) impressed Connecticut College Interim Head Coach Chris O´Brien in a gutsy 7-6, 6-3 victory at #5. Junior Becca Heupel (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and senior Jessica Bender (Westfield, N.J.) combined on an 8-4 victory at number one doubles for Connecticut College.
