Women Place Second in Varsity Four & 2nd Varsity Four, Men Take Second in Novice Four at Worcester

WORCESTER, Mass.--The Connecticut College men´s and women´s rowing teams headed north for regattas on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. Saturday. The women took second place in the varsity four and second varsity four regattas while the men placed second in the novice four. In the women´s varsity four, the Camels finished behind Bowdoin College. Time was lost for the event but the Camels were one length of open water behind the Polar Bears in second place. Clark University finished third and Trinity College placed fourth. . Justine Rooney (Centerville, Mass.) handled the stroke seat and Ari Puleo (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) coxed the second place boat. Jessica Truelove (Bethlehem, Conn.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.) and Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.) were seated 3-1. In the second varsity four, the Camels finished exactly three seconds behind Bowdoin College in second place with a time of 8:02.8. The Camel B boat was third in 8:05.3 and was followed by fourth place Clark University. The boat was stroked by sophomore Lesley Gaughan (Weston, Mass.) with Maureen Sweeney (New Canaan, Conn.) guiding the Camels as the coxswain. Janan Evans-Wilent (Ithaca, N.Y.) and Alex Heilman (Wayland, Mass.) joined Abbe Schickner (Norwich, Vt.) in the bow seat. Senior Mary Fergus (San Francisco,Calif.) handled the stroke seat in the B boat with Katie Gulick-Tuers (Ringoes, N.J.) on board as the coxswain. Emily Perry (Westfield, N.J.) and Sarah Brigandi (Winthrop, Mass.) were joined by Kaitlin Varga (Atkinson, N.H.) in the bow seat. The Camels posted a time of 7:38.8 to finish third in the varsity eight regatta. The Trinity College Bantams won the regatta in 6:51.7 with Wesleyan University securing a second place finish in 6:55.9. Lesley Gaughan handled the stroke seat with Maureen Sweeney guiding the Camels as the coxswain. Janan Evans-Wilent, Mary Fergus, Emily Perry, Sarah Brigandi, Kaitlin Varga, Alex Heilman and Abbe Schickner were seated 7-1 for Connecticut College. In the novice eight regatta, the Camels finished third in 7:29.7. Trinity College won the regatta in 7:12 and the College of the Holy Cross was second with a time of 7:19.5. Wesleyan University finished fourth behind the Camels in 7:32.6. Seana Siekman (Bethel, Maine.) handled the stroke seat with Amanda Jones (Upper Arlington, Ohio) on board as the coxswain. Lila Douglis (Belmont, Mass.), Caity Sprague (Bristol, R.I.), Amy Cheetham (Monroe, Maine), Meghan McLean (Old Lyme, Conn.), Steph Timpone (Malverne, N.Y.), Emma Sherer (Providence, R.I.) and Johanna Collins (Florence, Mass.) were seated 7-1 for the Camels. In the men´s novice four, the Camels completed the course in 7:08.8 to place second. Bowdoin College won the regatta in 7:00.4. Clark University finished behind the Camels in third place with a time of 7:46.2. Rob Jubinville (Granby, Mass.) was positioned in the stroke seat with Erin McDonald (Yardley, Pa.) guiding the Camels as the coxswain. Matt Murdock (Middletown, Conn.) and John Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) were joined by Matt Larkin (Trumbull, Conn.) in the bow seat for Connecticut College.
