Connecticut College will celebrate its 99th birthday April 5, marking the day that it was officially chartered in 1911.

The festivities begin at 2 p.m. with a student performance based on alumni interviews. It will be followed at 2:30 with a Founders Day Tea with emeriti faculty as special guests. At 3:30, the new athletics camel will be unveiled during a Celebration of Athletics on Larrabee Green.

Can’t make it to campus? Join us online. The countdown starts March 27 with an online trivia contest, birthday card and special photos. Go to the College’s Facebook page for all the details.

The Annual Fund is also counting down to the 99th with a challenge to graduates of the last decade. If 999 alumni from those classes give by April 5, Zoe Klein Henriquez ’99 will make a gift of $25,000. Find more information on the GOLD Facebook page.

Next up: the College’s 100th birthday, which we’ll be celebrating from April 5, 2011 through April 5, 2012. Watch this space for more details.
