Newman Buries 20 Kills for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.-The Connecticut College Camels secured a 3-0 shutout victory against visiting Hamilton College in a NESCAC match played at Luce Field House Saturday. The game scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 25-15 in favor of the hosts.
The Camels improve to 5-2 with a perfect 2-0 mark in the NESCAC, while the Continentals fall to 7-4 with a 0-2 mark in league play.
Connecticut College senior Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) buried 20 kills with just three errors to go along with six digs for the hosts. Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) chipped in with eight kills for the winning side.
Melissa Kohl (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) added five kills and four digs in the triumph. Junior setter Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) dished out a match-high 37 assists in the win.
Connecticut College head volleyball coach Josh Edmed was pleased with the weekend sweep and is looking ahead to next week's action at MIT.
"Overall it was a solid weekend for us," Edmed said. "We progressed from where we were last week. We know have a lot of work to do to get where we want to be next weekend."
The Camels will visit the Bay State for the first rounds of the MIT Invitational this Friday, Sept. 23.
