NEW LONDON, Conn.-Erica Jonasson (Wrentham, Mass.) netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season with 17:37 remaining in regulation that proved to be in the difference as UMass Dartmouth held on for a 3-2 victory against Connecticut College Tuesday. The Corsairs improve to 5-2 with the triumph, while the Camels slip to 0-3 with the setback. Danielle Gauvin (Fall River, Mass.) and Kelsey Leandro (Dartmouth, Mass.) chipped in with scores for the visitors. Junior net-minder Stephanie Borges finished with 13 saves in an impressive performance in net. Grace Bilodeau (Harvard, Mass.) and Trish Guay (North Scituate, R.I.) both scored goals for Connecticut College. Natalie Signor (Glastonbury, Conn.) played the first half in goal for the Camels and was relieved by Blythe Gross-Hutton (Cincinnati, Ohio), who made a diving stab to save a goal in the final minute of regulation. The Camels out-shot the Corsairs 26-to-9 in the contest and held an 8-to-0 advantage on corners. The visitors took a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute of action when Leandro chipped a high arching shot into the back of the net from 15 yards out. Vanessa Demelo (Fall River, Mass.) assisted on the score. But the Camels battled back and netted the equalizer with 19:51 remaining. Jill Cote (Portsmouth, R.I.) fired a cross from the left side into the center of the box and Trish Guay re-directed the kick with a nifty looking header to make it a 2-2 game. However, Jonasson put the Corsairs back on top in the 73rd minute and the visitors were able to hold on for the 3-2 win. Connecticut College will host Trinity College Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. NESCAC game in New London. The Corsairs return home to host Salve Regina University Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in North Dartmouth, Mass.
